Trust

Today I was on the subway and I met an interesting person from out of town.  We talked about how nice DC is and all of the different museums we have here.  We also talked about trust.  How do we know when we meet someone for the first time whether or not they are trust worthy and not some crazy person.  Really we don't and it's hard to know just by meeting someone but for me it's really a gut feeling that I have when I first meet a person, their look, their personality and etc.  Sometimes it's hard to let that wall down in order to get to know someone unless you meet them from a friend or relative.  Meeting them that way you have a sense of trust because you know someone that knows the person..  But what if you want to get to know that person.  Would you give them a chance?

It made me think about my customers.  When they call me to give them an estimate and a proposal on a project, they don't know me, but they usually are referred to me from family, co-workers, friends and etc.  They're hiring me off of a recommendation from their friends or relatives, but if they didn't know me, I would have to convince the owner why they should choose me over other contractors.  A lot of times I convince them with my personality, job experience and work history and hopefully the price is right for them.  So I have to have my act in order.  It's not easy out here.  In order to make our working relationship work, the home owner has to trust me and have faith in my company to get the job done.  Trust your instincts, expand your horizon.  The sky's the limit.

Fall Weather

It's hard to believe that a month has gone by since I last posted this blog.  My grandmother used to tell me that the older you get the faster time goes.  So with that thought in mind I try to live my life and enjoy the things that I always wanted to do.  Life is to short and you never know when it will end.  We're currently doing a couple of jobs that really excite me.  I love doing projects in which we use different materials, different processes to achieve the end result.  I'll be posting some of those pictures real soon as we get closer to the finish project.  Fall is here and it's the perfect time to work outside and still enjoy the autumn weather.
